Volunteer requirements
Age Restrictions: Volunteers may need to meet a minimum age requirement, often 18 years old or older, although some programs may accept younger volunteers with parental consent.
Commitment: Volunteers are often expected to commit to a minimum period of volunteering, which can range from a few days to several weeks or months.
Skills and Experience: While no prior experience is usually necessary, a passion for marine conservation and a willingness to learn are essential.
Respect for Wildlife: Volunteers must demonstrate respect for the sea turtles and their habitats, adhering to guidelines and protocols to ensure the well-being of the animals.
At OTCP, you will have the opportunity to actively participate in various aspects of sea turtle conservation, including:
・Rehabilitating injured turtles
・Assisting with hatchery operations
・Conducting research and learning about the biology and life cycle of sea turtles
・Monitoring nests and collecting vital data
・Facilitating hatchling releases
・Educating visitors about the importance of sea turtle conservation
・Community Engagement
・Beach Clean-Up Initiatives
・Research Projects
・Coral Reef Monitoring
・Sustainable Practices (eco-friendly tourism initiatives)
At the conclusion of the volunteer project, participants will receive a certificate of completion, acknowledging their dedication to sea turtle conservation and their contributions to our efforts at the OTCP.
