Our story

In 2003, Our Sea Turtles Sri Lanka Conservation Project emerged on Mount Lavinia Beach as Colombo's secret haven for sea turtles. Led by Milan Perera and a passionate team, we've championed the protection, rehabilitation, and release of these ancient mariners. Our mission extends beyond conservation; it's about igniting a global commitment to safeguard these majestic creatures against the growing threats they face. Join us in turning the tide for sea turtles, ensuring their survival for generations to come.

Very friendly and informative staff at this hidden gem in Colombo. You will find it on the beach tucked away. You get to learn about what they are doing to protect sea turtles, hold the big ones and released baby turtles during the day to increase their survival rate. Great place, you must check out!

This place located in Mout Lavania as now its easy to find the new McDonalds have been open on the lane top to this place, you have to go down to the lane till you meet the railway lines there after a 100 meters walk to your left across the railway line you will see this place. Excellent experience and worthy of support. Highlight of our trip in many ways. Take the opportunity to release baby turtles into the ocean. Best to approach the area with a local guide, area is a bit sketchy but worth the effort. You need to cross two sets of train lines on foot to access the sanctuary, so would not be ideal for wheelchair or people who have difficulty walking distances or over uneven ground.
